He/Him

Robert Tuckman, LPC, EdS, is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Newtown Therapy and Wellness Center. In addition to his private practice work, Robert has been working in the schools as a PreK-12 school counselor for the past 21 years. Rob holds a B.A. in Psychology from Syracuse University and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Rider University.
A leader in the field of School Counseling, Rob has presented on many topics ranging from “Life Balance”, “Crisis Response and Support”, “Communication”, “Dealing with Difficult People”, “Grief; Supporting Those in Need”, and “Caregiving”. Rob is currently working on his book, “For years; A Caregivers guide to supporting a loved one while continuing to take care of yourself.”
Rob’s counseling approach to therapy is selectively integrative as he believes in meeting the client where the client exists, and tapping into theoretical approaches that allow for maximum personal growth. With roots in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client Centered Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, Rob is able to balance solution based approaches with client focus models.
From his extensive experience working in private and public schools, Rob has a genuine comfort and skill set in working with children, teenagers, young adults and adults and families. A long time coach in sports at the youth, high school and college levels, Rob also works well with athletes on sports related challenges.
As people experience hardship and difficulty in their lives, Rob believes that reactions and behaviors are generally a result of how one thinks and feels about a situation. Every person has a choice as to how they handle what life presents them; guidance to find that path is at the root of Rob’s theoretical approach.

Rob’s professional experience has taken him into school’s all over the world. He has served as a School counselor, administrator, teacher, advisor and coach. Rob has spent his summers working as director of camper care at a residential activities camp in the Poconos and worked as a crisis intervention counselor for the Children Psychiatric Center of NJ. Early in Rob’s career, he worked at the Children’s Transitional Residence at UMDNJ as a therapeutic support counselor.
