Carey Young is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who earned her clinical Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Rutgers University. Carey has a wide range of experience with diverse client populations in the field of mental health. In addition to private outpatient settings, Carey has worked with young adults in college counseling centers and adolescents in restorative justice programs. She has also worked with individuals and groups providing LGBTQIA affirmative therapy.
Carey’s clinical approach incorporates strength based, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, and Family Systems models that are tailored to meet the individual needs of her clients. In particular, Carey currently enjoys working with clients to address anxiety, family relational challenges, identity development and life transitions. She believes in creating safe spaces in which clients can begin the work of exploring, healing and becoming their most authentic selves. In sessions, Carey focuses on developing strong rapport with clients through her calm and approachable demeanor, humor, and interactive communication style.
Areas of special interest include working with teens/young adults around identity and career development; working with the LGBTQIA population; anxiety, stress and navigating life transitions.
Carey Young’s fee is $120 per session.
