Katie has over seventeen years of experience working with teens and adolescents as a private therapist and school counselor. Through her work in schools, she has significant insight into how the education system works, how students of different abilities learn, and what skills are essential for kids to be successful lifetime learners. As a private therapist, she has the extraordinary opportunity to help children and young adults develop and sustain healthy social and emotional skills.
We have learned that people who develop strong coping skills and learn to effectively communicate are better able to have healthy, rewarding relationships with friends and family. Katie helps her clients find their voice to advocate effectively for themselves, appropriately manage emotions, and interact positively with others.
Katie provides client-centered therapy and believes that successful treatment begins with building a strong client-therapist relationship. From this secure base, she strives to support her client in working through pain towards growth and change. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process defined by trust, safety, warmth, empathy, and unconditional acceptance. While treatment is unique to each client, Katie integrates cognitive behavior therapy, reality therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
