Richard Yahn, M.S., is a Master’s Level Counselor at Newtown Therapy and Wellness Center. Richard earned a Master of Counseling degree from Cairn University, and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from La Salle University.
Richard has a passion for accompanying and collaboratively supporting clients as they grow, heal, and recover from a range of mental health concerns and trauma. He believes that the path of healing comes from discovering the underlying heart beliefs that influence our behavior, thoughts, emotions, and desires.
Richard has a focus in marital, pre-marital, and relationship counseling. He also works with individuals in a multitude of problems including mood spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, OCD, DID, anxiety, depression, dysthymia and anhedonia, addiction (sexual and drug/alcohol), faith issues, church hurt, and pastors. Richard also enjoys working with clients through life transitions, career choices and changes, as well as with life skills counseling. He works with clients of all ages and genders.
Within his counseling process, Richard incorporates Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Psychodrama, and Gestalt Therapeutic models. For the faith community, he utilizes Christian counseling including Biblical integration within the therapeutic process when it aligns with the client’s belief system. Richard is also able to assist secular clients and clients within their own spiritual beliefs. Richard provides a safe, non-judgmental space to embark upon a therapeutic journey. His work with the LGBTQ community allows clients to achieve individual goals and relationship success.
Richard completed his Practicum and Internship at Oasis Counseling Center at Cairn University in Langhorne, PA and at Central Church in Ewing, NJ. With his experience in working with addictions, Richard has led and a weekly ‘Celebrate Recovery’ program since 2018. He is currently leading a live satellite site for the Global Leadership Summit. Richard is currently under the supervision of Dr. Stacy Hunt & Dr. Kathryn Shipley and in pursuit of Licensure (LPC).
Richard’s rate is $120 per session
