With nearly a decade of experience, Philly-native Jeff St. James has worked to build up a meaningful reputation within the local mental health community. Jeff received his Master of Science in Counseling from Cairn University. He is both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified PE (Prolonged Exposure) Therapist and consultant for trauma victims suffering with PTSD. Prolonged Exposure is an evidence-based therapy also utilized in treating depression, anger, guilt, and general anxiety.
In addition to being a trauma specialist, Jeff also works with individuals struggling with grief and loss, faith, motivation, hoarding, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and relationship-marital issues. He enjoys working with adolescents 16 years and older, young adults and adults. He has a special interest in men’s issues, including sexuality, loneliness, addictions, masculinity, empowerment, leadership and career development.
Jeff’s experience as a mental health professional has spanned three states and a wide range of settings, including schools, colleges, the urban communities of Camden, Wilmington, and North Philadelphia, the prison population, and court systems. Jeff is currently a member of the PE Cultural Awareness Task Force that seeks to incorporate cultural considerations to better serve both clinicians and their clients especially when dealing with cultural & race-based reactions. Jeff has made it a personal goal to help bridge the gap between the needs of those suffering with the resources necessary to radically improve their quality of life. His hope is to further normalize discussions on mental health within the black community and other minority groups to continue advocating on their behalf.
